EXCLUSIVE: Motif Labs Targets Gen Z With New Cannabis Line

Zinger Key Points
  • Motif Labs, led by CEO Mario Naric, targets Gen Z with new brand Rizzlers.
  • The company adapts to changing consumer trends to engage a new market.

Motif Labs, a company initially rooted in process engineering, has taken a significant step towards engaging the younger cannabis market by introducing Rizzlers, a brand tailored explicitly for Gen Z consumers.

Founder, CEO and upcoming speaker at the Benzinga Cannabis Capital Conference, Mario Naric was on a recent episode of Cannabis Insider and among the topics he talked about was how he shifted focus from the conventional cannabis market to meet the evolving needs of new adult consumers who have only known legal cannabis.

Addressing A New Generation

The launch of Rizzlers comes as a response to a demographic that views cannabis differently, having grown up in an era where cannabis is becoming legal.

“There’s a whole subset of people that have become adults during legalization and have only ever experienced legal weed,” Naric noted, emphasizing the variation in cannabis perception among this younger audience.

This insight led to the development of Rizzlers, aiming to offer “simple, fun, and flavorful” products that are also accessible in terms of price.

Beyond Manufacturing To Market Resonance

Transitioning from a B2B model focused on bulk oils to becoming a “leading brand house,” Naric’s strategy for Motif Labs is deeply influenced by his engineering background, ensuring efficiency in manufacturing. However, the company now emphasizes marketing and product development to resonate with its target market.

Rizzlers are designed to be distinctive, aligning with Gen Z’s desire for individuality and authenticity in their product choices. “It looks a lot different than your typical vape,” Naric said, underlining the brand’s unique appeal.

Targeting The Market Needs

Naric also highlighted the importance of hardware in differentiating cannabis products, particularly vapes, which are central to Rizzlers’ product line.

“Hardware is a massive debate,” he mentioned, discussing the move towards pod-based systems to offer something unique to the consumer market.

This approach reflects a broader trend of personalization and innovation in the cannabis industry, catering to the preferences of a generation that values uniqueness and ease of use.

As Motif Labs continues to adapt and innovate, the introduction of Rizzlers signifies a strategic move to engage with the Gen Z market, showcasing the company’s flexibility and responsiveness to changing consumer trends.
