PharmaCann Partners With CAM

With the stated goal of improving people's lives through cannabis, PharmaCann is always looking for new ways to reach consumers and deliver the quality products they expect. The company's recent partnership with California Artisanal Medicine (CAM), founded by industry veteran Anna Willey, is a step in that direction.

PharmaCann's LivWell locations in Colorado now offer six of the most popular CAM flower strains, and soon, these products will spread to other states. How did this epic partnership come about, and what can you expect when you purchase CAM products from LivWell dispensaries? Read on to find out.

PharmaCann Launches CAM Flower Line

The cannabis industry has gone through many iterations over the years, not only because of changing laws aimed at legalizing marijuana but also because of advances in growing practices and strain evolution.

Whether you're an old-school aficionado lamenting the loss of favorite strains, you appreciate the results of more effective and streamlined growing practices, or you like a bit of both, you're sure to be impressed by the marriage of old and new represented in the union of PharmaCann and CAM.

Willey brings a wealth of experience to the table, along with a dedication to nostalgic strains that have become scarce in the marketplace because of incompatibility with newer growing practices.

If you love drought-tolerant, low-light OGs, for example, you have something in common with Willey. She doesn't mind putting extra time and effort into cultivating the classics because she feels they deserve their rightful place among today's popular strains.

In partnership with PharmaCann, CAM is expanding the market for both old-school and innovative new strains. You can now find CAM products at 26 LivWell dispensaries in Colorado, with planned expansion to various markets across the United States

Partnership With Anna Willey, CAM Founder

Willey, née Anna Cozy, is well known in the cannabis industry, with a career dating back to 2009. She has launched two businesses — the first in Colorado and the second in California. Who is Willey, and how did she get where she is today?

Who Is Anna Willey?

Born in Jaipur, India, Willey moved to New York with her parents as a child and eventually attended the University of Colorado Boulder. While there, she began experimenting with small-scale cultivation before turning her hobby into a business.

In 2009, around the time the U.S. attorney general ceased prosecuting marijuana suppliers, her passion project resulted in the launch of Colorado Alternative Medicine, the original CAM, offering medical marijuana. She was the first woman to open a dispensary in the state.

Despite the competitive market (licenses in the state increased from roughly 5,000 to nearly 119,000 between 2009 and 2011), CAM was recognized among the many dispensaries crowding a stretch of South Broadway in Denver as a purveyor of unique strains.

From Colorado to California

In 2017, Willey sold her Colorado operation to a competitor and used the money from that sale to move to California in 2018 and start a new wholesale cultivation operation, California Artisanal Medicine, which became the second iteration of CAM.

Returning to Her Roots

The partnership between PharmaCann and CAM is a natural fit, thanks to overlapping values and goals. PharmaCann's philosophy centers on wellness and increasing access to effective and affordable cannabis products, with an emphasis on investing in people, practices and infrastructure.

CAM's stated mission includes increasing access to premium quality products while putting customers' needs first.

By teaming up with PharmaCann, Willey has expanded the market for her popular products and found a way to return to her roots in Colorado with a limited offering of old-school strains that deliver the flavors and potencies modern consumers expect.

LivWell Colorado Launches CAM Flower

One of the most promising aspects of the PharmaCann and CAM partnership is that it's a true collaboration. Willey brings a lot to the table, thanks to extensive knowledge, years of experience, and a passion for cultivation, whether she's preserving beloved OG strains or innovating new products. Her brand embraces both.

LivWell also is doing its part by setting up and managing new grow operations designed to generate preferred strains that meet high expectations for quality. While Willey provides the genetics and consulting services, LivWell handles the logistical concerns required to bring products to market.

Willey worked closely with the cultivation team to make sure the products released meet high standards, a goal both parties agree is important. As a result, substandard products are not released — a rarity among industry collaborators but a move that upholds the reputation of everyone involved and helps ensure customer satisfaction.

Featured Strains

CAM's partnership with PharmaCann began with the cultivation and sale of six select strains in Colorado, including:

  • Coal Creek Kush
  • Formula 41
  • La Paleta
  • Lemon Cherry Gelato
  • Lemon Cherry Z
  • Permanent Marker

In some cases, coveted older strains require extra growing time or unique growing conditions to produce the best outcomes. Coal Creek Kush, for example, is an OG-heavy derivative of Chemdawg that tends to thrive in a growing environment with less light and water than is typically found in modern cultivation facilities.

Willey worked with LivWell to dial in the right conditions for each strain, ensuring premium products.

Whether you like the West Coast's popular Lemon Cherry Gelato with its sweet and sour candy flavors or you prefer the mix of fruity and astringent aromas and flavors that dominate Permanent Marker, you'll have no trouble finding a new (or old) favorite when you buy CAM flower at LivWell dispensaries.

Expansion to Verilife Illinois Dispensaries

Now that LivWell locations across Colorado offer CAM products, the next step is expanding to PharmaCann dispensary locations in other states.

CAM products became available at PharmaCann's Verilife stores in Illinois in March. While the timeline for expansion isn't set in stone, launches at locations in other states are anticipated throughout the year, and customers in these markets are sure to enjoy the collaborative cannabis offerings just as much as Colorado consumers.

By harnessing the genetics of beloved older strains that were popular early in her career and finding ways to cultivate them in keeping with modern expectations for flavor and potency, Willey is not only fueling nostalgia but introducing new generations to her favorite strains.

PharmaCann and CAM Hit a Home Run

If you're already a fan of the expansive menu of premium products available at PharmaCann's LivWell and Verilife locations, you'll appreciate the effort that went into crafting the exceptional CAM strains available at several locations, not to mention the novelty and nostalgia they represent.

Willey's journey in the cannabis industry has included some moving around, and she's learned lessons about the industry and gained experience along the way.

Now, the renowned wholesale cultivator is back on top, her collaboration with PharmaCann is sure to be fruitful. The real winners are consumers keen to revisit old-school strains or try them for the first time.
