Argentine lawyer Carlos Maslatón took to social media to share his take on the United States preparing to reclassify marijuana. It was on his X account that he stated: "Things are bad and prohibited until Americans say they are good and legal."
The news that the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is likely going to reclassify cannabis as a less dangerous drug came as a surprise and relief to many, including Maslatón, who expressed his dissatisfaction with the fact that "they created serious harm to humanity by prohibiting it."
Maslatón advised Argentina's Minister of Security Patricia Bullrich to stop seizing marijuana
Although the change still needs to be reviewed by the White House Office of Management and Budget, it not only recognizes the medical uses of cannabis but also admits that it has a lower potential for abuse than some of the country's most dangerous drugs. Thus, marijuana would be moved from Schedule I to Schedule III.
In this context, the lawyer tweeted that "now everything goes, even depositing the cash from the sale of the drug in banks. Bullrich should not confiscate more shipments," he suggested in the wake of the repercussions on the topic.
"60 years lying to us about marijuana," declared Maslatón, whose words suggest that the United States has power and influence over some countries. So, just as in another era, the country defended that marijuana be "bad and prohibited," now the paradigm shifts, which anticipates that this will have implications in other parts of the world.
