Florida's Cannabis Retail Landscape Is Thriving

In anticipation of the outcome of Florida's Measure 3, cannabis giants are racing to bolster their retail footprint in the Sunshine State.

Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, Green Thumb Industries Inc. GTII GTBIF wrapped up April by kicking off medical cannabis sales at RISE Dispensary Wesley Chapel, its 16th retail location in Florida and 93rd nationwide. Located at 28053 Wesley Chapel Blvd., the new shop offers a diverse collection of cannabis products, including RYTHM premium flower and full spectrum vapes, Dogwalkers pre-rolls, Good Green flower and &Shine flower, pre-rolls, vapes and chews.

Another Chicago-based cannabis powerhouse, Verano Holdings Corp. VRNOF, is expanding to Florida. This time, with its 75th Florida dispensary and 140th retail location nationwide. MÜV Haines City, located at 127 U.S. Highway 17 92 W, launched medical marijuana sales on Friday, May 10.

Trulieve Cannabis Corp. TRUL TCNNF expanded in its home state with two new retail locations. Located at 11859 U.S. Hwy 1, the North Palm Beach medical cannabis shop had its grand opening celebration on April 26. Trulieve Stuart Kanner, located at 6600 South Kanner Highway will open its doors to customers on Friday, May 17. CEO Kim Rivers, who was a top speaker at several previous Benzinga cannabis events, said the company's team is "proud to serve patients with Trulieve branded products through elevated customer experiences.”

Sunburn Cannabis opened its first dispensary in Tampa In April, marking it’s 13th statewide. The store is located at 2409 S. MacDill Avenue and is centrally located in the iconic South Tampa neighborhood and community.

California's New Weed Stores

In California, Bel Air welcomed cannabis and delivery service XzibitWest Coast Cannabis, which hosted its official grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sunday, April 28. The shop is located at 641 N. Sepulveda Blvd.

California cannabis retail operator Embarc recently opened Madera‘s first cannabis dispensary and also the second retail location in Fresno. Both stores at 530 E. Yosemite Ave in Madera and 1784 W. Shaw Ave in Fresno opened their doors in May.

Purple Lotus held a grand opening event at its second location, at 66 W. Santa Clara St., in downtown San Jose. The 1,500-square-foot store will feature a wide range of cannabis products from top-tier brands such as Alien Labs, Cookies and Stiiizy, as well as Purple Lotus' line of top-shelf Blue Chip premium cannabis.

New York's Cannabis Retail Footprint Grows

On Saturday, Freshly Baked NYC, a local cannabis delivery service in the Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens area kicked off cannabis sales at its first recreational dispensary. Located on Arthur Ave in the heart of Bronx Little Italy, the brick-and-mortar establishment features an extensive selection of locally sourced products from New York, including Ayrloom Cannabis, Silly Nice and CannaCure, alongside national brands such as Cookies, PAX, Jetty Extracts, Kiva Confections including Camino & Lost Farms, as well as Old Pal, Fernway, Packwoods, and Miss Grass.

Urban Leaf, a luxury legal cannabis dispensary located in the heart of Midtown East, Manhattan at 977 2nd Ave, officially opened with a grand opening event held on April 18.

Trends Dispensary, the first black-owned dispensary in Long Island City, Queens at 27-25 44th Drive launched in April. Its founders, Queens-raised brothers Rodney Carter Jr. and Brandon Carter, were granted a coveted social justice license by NY State, marking a profound journey from adversity to advocacy.

These Five States Each Opened A New Cannabis Shop

In New Jersey, where the New Brunswick-based Benzinga event is slated to take place on June 17, one new cannabis store recently opened doors to customers. Blossom Dispensary, located at 746 Tonnelle Avenue in The Heights Jersey City, kicked off sales on April 19.

TruReleaf MD expanded to Olive Branch, Mississippi. After seven years of experience providing compassionate care in Florida as MMTCFL, TruReleaf MD is one of the state’s first medical marijuana physicians providing relief for patients through medical cannabis certifications with in-person reviews of medical conditions and medical records. The clinic currently offers in-person appointments for those with qualifying conditions.

Right on Brands, Inc. RTON a developer of a diverse range of hemp-based and THCA products, announced opened its 13th licensed store at 13010 W. Parmer Lane in Cedar Park, Texas in booming Williamson County last month.

Mint Cannabis expanded its retail footprint in Michigan recently with the opening of its sixth location in the state. Located at 592 Lakeville Rd, Oxford, the new store is the first Mint Cannabis location in the Northern Detroit area.

Verano opened Zen Leaf Naugatuck, its third social equity joint venture location in Connecticut and its fifth cannabis dispensary statewide. The store at 585 South Main Street, hosted a grand opening on Friday, May 3. 

High Tide's Canada Expansion Continues

Cannabis giant High Tide Inc. HITI HITI 2LYA recently expanded its footprint by opening two new stores. Canna Cabana retail cannabis store located at 1949 Ravenscroft Road, Ajax, in Ontario, started serving customers on May 6.

Canna Cabana retail cannabis store located at 1105 Kingston Road, Pickering, Ontario, kicked off sales on Monday. This opening marks the company's 171st Canna Cabana branded retail cannabis location in Canada and the 62nd in the province of Ontario.
