As Michigan Becomes Nation's Top Cannabis Seller, Baker College Teams Up With Weed Brand To Offer Internships In Detroit

Baker College has teamed up with Michigan's popular weed brand, House of Dank (HOD), to provide cannabis-related internships in Metro Detroit. This collaboration aims to create a talent pipeline for the cannabis industry while ensuring students receive comprehensive education and training.

The news comes as Michigan emerges as the top seller of legal cannabis in the U.S., surpassing the Golden State in unit sales.

The Oakland County-based private college is introducing three specialized cannabis certificates to equip students with job skills needed for a career in the marijuana industry. Each course, offered fully online, takes nine weeks to complete.

“Partnering with House of Dank allows us to bridge the gap between education and employment,” stated Kelley Suggs, public relations manager for Baker College. “Our goal is to ensure students not only gain valuable knowledge about the cannabis industry but also have the opportunity to apply these skills in real-world settings through internships and job opportunities.”

Programs Highlights

The cannabis certificate programs are developed in partnership with Green Flower, the leader in cannabis education, and cover three critical areas: Advanced Dispensary Associate Skills Training, Cannabis Manufacturing, and Cannabis Cultivation. These programs address the urgent need for skilled workers in the booming industry.

As part of this initiative, House of Dank will conduct open interviews and seeks to hire interns from Baker College's programs, aiming to have them in place by Labor Day weekend, coinciding with the annual Soaring Eagle Arts, Beats and Eats festival in downtown Royal Oak, Michigan.

"House of Dank has always been about innovation and pushing our industry forward, and it's in that grand tradition that for the first time ever we have partnered with Baker College and their new cannabis education program to create a new pipeline of careers for their students. Kicking off at this year’s Arts, Beats, and Eats festival, we will introduce the first class of their graduates and our paid interns. We're excited for all who will visit Dankland and/or Dankway this year," said Michael P. DiLaura, House of Dank chief of corporate operations.
