In a recent interview with Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show,” actress Sofía Vergara revealed the challenges she faced in portraying Griselda Blanco, the “Queen of Cocaine”, for the Netflix NFLX series “Griselda”.
The director, Andrés Baiz, taught her “how to smoke… how to do cocaine,” the actress recounted on air, causing a stir among the audience and Fallon, who sarcastically responded, “He’s done a lot of great things for you.”
Sofía Vergara’s Preparation To Portray ‘The Queen of Cocaine’
The actress recalled that the director visited her home while she was still preparing for the role to teach her how to handle the scenes better. “It was amazing because I was 51 years old and didn’t even know how to light a cigarette. I had never done cocaine,” she said, prompting laughter. “It was a great experience,” she added ironically.
Vergara quickly clarified that there were no real cigarettes or cocaine involved. “Everything was fake. But the acting was real,” she concluded, keeping the laughter rolling.
Griselda is a six-episode dramatic miniseries available on Netflix, focusing on the story of Griselda Blanco, a high-ranking Colombian drug trafficker who built an epic cocaine empire.
