The TV series promises to provide a comprehensive look at the industry’s diverse aspects, from cultivation to retail and aims to highlight the evolving landscape of cannabis investment.

Exploring Cannabis Ventures

The series documents the Batenburgs as they visit various cannabis businesses, including farms, retail shops and cultivation sites.

David McKillop, an Emmy Award-winning producer known for shows like "Duck Dynasty" and "Storage Wars" co-created the series with Ed Leclere, an entrepreneur based in Scottsdale. McKillop highlights the focus on personal stories. "It's all people-driven. All of this series is based around the Batenburgs, who are just fantastic."

Ed Leclere, who has a personal history with cannabis, describes the Batenburgs as ideal hosts. "The dynamic between that father and son is incredible," he says. "They make a great host for the show to take us on this journey." McKillop adds, "They are pursuing the American dream. They're genuinely really fun people. One of the most important things is authenticity."

A Personal Connection

Leclere's interest in cannabis is informed by his own experience. After undergoing surgery in 2018, he opted for cannabis as an alternative to pharmaceuticals. "I go back periodically to my ENT to get checked and I'm doing great," he says. Leclere's experience has shaped his perspective on cannabis, which he now views as a valuable alternative treatment.

Leclere aims to use the series to challenge existing misconceptions about cannabis. He critical of the federal government’s historical stance on cannabis. "The federal government has sent so much BS to the public about cannabis."

Notable Stories And Figures

The series will feature a variety of stories and individuals from within the cannabis industry. For example, Moe Asnani and Chip Boyden, founders of Ilava, an established Arizona dispensary and grow house. Another segment will focus on Greg Krzanowski, known as "Chem Dog," who is recognized for his expertise in cannabis strains.

The show will also cover the work of Brendan and Kevin McKernan of Medicinal Genomics, who have transitioned from the Human Genome Project to studying cannabis strains for medical use. Additionally, Meg Sanders and Erik Williams of Canna Provisions will be featured, highlighting their contributions to the cannabis retail sector.

Leclere recalls an emotional episode involving a veteran with PTSD whose condition improved with cannabis. "Cannabis has changed his life," he says. "I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about that day of shooting."

Authentic Representation

"High Science" aims to provide an accurate portrayal of the cannabis industry. McKillop stresses the importance of authenticity in the series.

"You know it's true. This isn't made up. This isn't written in a script. This is true reality television," he says.
