Dennis Walker, popularly known as Mycopreneur in the psychedelic community, has established himself as a satirist, content creator and podcast host with a unique perspective.
Combining humor with insightful analysis, Walker has gained a significant following by shedding light on the psychedelics landscape. His fascination with psychedelics dates back to his teenage years when a transformative mushroom experience ignited his creative potential.

“I often say that first experience ‘blew the roof off my imagination’ and I connected with untapped creative potential and artistic vision that continues to carry me through life today in a meaningful and empowered way,” Walker recalled in an exclusive interview with Benzinga. “I continued my psychedelic research in a mindful, deliberate and patient manner that continues to unfold today.”
As the host of the Mycopreneur Podcast, Walker delves into the intersection of psychedelics and entrepreneurship, with a particular focus on the burgeoning fungi industry.
He explained that his business model reflects the mycelial network, promoting a circular economy that shares resources and intelligence in an open-source format.
“The business model that I’ve developed with Mycopreneur is a reflection of the real-world mycelial network that underpins the mushrooms we know and love,” Walker told Benzinga. “It is in service to a circular economy that shares resources and intelligence in an open-source, distributed format that is mutually beneficial to each individual and organization that is a member of the mycopreneurial business ecosystem.”
He added: “Mushroom entrepreneurs differ from traditional business interests in this way; in place of patents and gatekeeping, the mushroom entrepreneurial community often shares resources and joins forces to create intentional abundance instead of artificial scarcity.”
The Power Of Satire In Education
Satire plays a crucial role in Walker’s work, a medium he discovered “accidentally on purpose.” A year into his Mycopreneur Podcast, he created a satirical Instagram reel that went viral overnight.
“The Woke Capitalist Spiritual Retreat Center” depicted an overzealous new age spiritual healer, which resonated with audiences globally. Walker realized that satire could effectively educate and engage a broad audience. “It was a surreal occurrence that propelled me into the role of satirist and which is continuing to pay dividends today,” he said.
This success showed him the potential of meme advertising, which Walker described as an "incredibly underlapped arena with massive potential returns."
His satirical content, such as a reel for Mycroboost, garnered over 3 million organic views and continues to circulate widely.
Psychedelics: Global Community And Industry Dynamics
The global, distributed and non-hierarchical nature of the psychedelics scene is something Walker appreciates. “I’ve traveled to over 70 countries on 6 continents in the years since I first became enamored of psychedelics, and I’ve found a psychedelic scene in virtually every remote pocket and urban sprawl across the planet.”
However, he critiques the disproportionate focus on the medicalized and pharmaceutical aspects of the industry. "Psychedelics absolutely threaten deeply entrenched power structures," Walker said, noting the resistance these substances face.
Despite this, he’s sure of one thing. “Psychedelics are here to stay, and they belong to everyone.”
Furthermore, the content creator maintains a balanced view of major companies in the psychedelics industry. He sees them as complementary to small local ventures and acknowledges the significant investments from major brands and institutions in fungi technology.
"The broader public has yet to truly recognize the immense untapped potential of ‘deep fungal tech'," Walker pointed out. “NASA, the U.S. Department of Defense, IKEA, Adidas, Mercedes-Benz, and hundreds of other major brands and institutions are actively investing in fungi technology.”
Embracing Microdosing: The Path To Mainstream Psychedelic Use?
Looking ahead, the psychedelics advocate is focused on launching a Microdosing Facilitator Training program, which he sees as a sensible path for widespread psychedelics use. The program features Jim Fadiman, a leading figure in microdosing research.
It’s worth noting that a recent RAND Corporation report estimates that 4 million Americans microdosed in 2023, “though the total number is actually much higher when adjusted for global use trends.” Google search analytics show a 1250% increase in searches for ‘microdosing’ between 2015 and 2023.
“I see microdosing as the most sensible path forward for population wide psychedelic use; it doesn’t jar the senses and ‘ontologically shock’ people, but rather confers the benefits of psychedelics upon those who do it in a gradual, sensible way that builds towards major improvements in health, wellness, and lifestyle,” Walker said.
Walker is also involved in launching Mycoday, a functional mushroom chocolate bar, and Myco Mojo, a Lion's Mane mushroom tincture company. He also co-founded the Global Psychedelic Week, set to debut in November 2025, bringing together prominent organizations and individuals in the psychedelics space.
With a busy schedule of international conferences and festivals, Walker continues to produce Mycopreneur Podcast episodes twice a week.
“If you want to keep your finger on the pulse of what’s happening in the mushroom space – and the global psychedelic space more broadly – look no further,” he concluded.
