Ketamine Clinics Los Angeles has announced a partnership with FireflyVR to integrate virtual reality technology into its Ketamine Infusion Therapy program with the idea of enhancing patient care and mental health treatment outcomes. This collaboration will combine immersive digital mindfulness experiences with evidence-based therapies for conditions like depression and PTSD.

Virtual Reality Meets Ketamine Therapy

FireflyVR's platform, The Sanctuary, offers dynamic VR environments that engage patients through guided mindfulness exercises such as breath work, body scans and meditations. This technology will play a key role in KCLA's preparation and integration process, helping patients mentally prepare for ketamine infusions and aiding their reflection and recovery post-treatment.

“Our entire team has undergone extensive training in preparation and integration to offer compassionate care for patients undergoing ketamine infusions,” Sam Mandel, CEO and co-founder of KCLA told Benzinga. “This cutting-edge tool will enhance the world-class treatment KCLA patients already receive daily.” Founded in 2014, KCLA is a leader in Ketamine Infusion Therapy and has treated over 6,000 patients, with an 83% success rate.

Firefly harnesses guided VR to promote neural activity that retrains and restores functional plasticity, enhancing patients receptiveness to treatment during the pre-and-post treatment phases of Ketamine Infusion Therapy. The collaboration reflects a growing trend in the mental health field, where virtual reality is being harnessed to promote cognitive changes and mental well-being.

FireflyVR's CEO, Shel Mann, explained that their VR environments help "reset behaviors and immerse patients in transformative practices," which improves receptiveness to treatment.
