Rachel Sennott Arrested In Cayman Islands: I Wanted 'To Be Arrested For Something Awesome' Not CBD

Zinger Key Points
  • In a recent appearance on 'The Tonight Show,' the 'Bottoms' star opened up about her arrest in the Cayman Islands for CBD possession.
  • The actress admitted the incident was her fault for not researching international travel laws before arriving in the Cayman Islands.

Actress Rachel Sennott shared an unexpected story during her October 9 appearance on “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon: her recent arrest in the Cayman Islands for carrying CBD. As US Weekly reported, the “Bottoms” star recounted the experience, calling it "embarrassing" and lamenting that she wasn't arrested for something "cool" like protesting or shoplifting.

Trouble With Cayman Islands Law

"It's actually sad. You want to be arrested for something awesome," Sennott said, joking that her arrest for CBD was "a little pathetic." She explained that the incident was "totally [her] fault," as she hadn't researched international travel laws before arriving at the Cayman Islands airport. Her CBD product, "Mom Grass," is legal in the U.S. but not in the Cayman Islands, leading to her detainment.

Once arrested, Sennott had her phone and passport confiscated and found herself in the awkward position of being allowed to make only one phone call, but only to someone within the Cayman Islands. “Unfortunately, I have yet to make friends in the Cayman Islands,” she quipped.

Sennott also revealed that during her time in custody, the border patrol officers searched for her online presence and watched clips from the 2023 comedy “Bottoms” and quickly decided, "This isn't for us."

Sennott's Assistant To The Rescue

Her time behind bars was brief, thanks to her assistant, Claire, who alerted authorities after realizing something was amiss when Sennott stopped responding to text messages. The incident may have left the actress without a physical mugshot to share. "I asked for it, they wouldn't send it," she said, but it certainly gave her an unforgettable story.
