'Not Eating Gummies!' Says Kamala Harris About How She Copes With Election Stress As Polls Tighten Against Donald Trump

Zinger Key Points
  • No weed gummies, though Harris admits she's stressed: "I wake up in the middle of the night usually these days, just to be honest with you."
  • A recent poll shows Harris and Trump virtually tied in five key battleground states with "neither candidate ahead by even a single point."

Vice President Kamala Harris told a panel in Michigan this week that cannabis edibles are definitely not part of her routine for alleviating stress as she spends the last days on the campaign trail with less than two weeks to go before the November 5 elections.

What Happened: Harris was speaking on a panel with former U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) and former news anchor Maria Shriver, who asked the vice president how she deals with stress and anxiety as the election nears.

"Everybody I talk to says ‘I have to turn off the news, I can‘t read anything, I'm meditating, I'm doing yoga, I'm so anxious I just don't even know, I'm eating gummies' all kinds of things," Shriver said. "What are you doing?"

With the hearty laugh that has often drawn the ire of her opponents, especially former President Donald Trump, Harris replied. "Not eating gummies!"

Though Harris admitted to experiencing anxiety, reported The Daily Beast. "I wake up in the middle of the night usually these days, just to be honest with you," she said. "But I work out every morning. I think that's really important … mind, body and spirit."

Harris, who pledged to legalize recreational marijuana, protect cryptocurrency assets and give one million loans to Black entrepreneurs to galvanize Black voters, has doubled down on these issues over concern that she might be losing once-guaranteed votes in this important demographic to Trump.

Latest Polls:New York Times/Siena College poll conducted with 589 Black voters from Sept. 29 to Oct. 6, 2024, found Harris retained the majority over Trump in that demographic. Meanwhile, a New York Times‘ polling average published Oct. 21 showed the two presidential candidates are virtually tied in five key battleground states with “neither candidate ahead by even a single point.” Those states are Pennsylvania, Michigan, Nevada, Wisconsin and North Carolina.
