Ruba always knew that music was his destiny. He feels it as a deep, undeniable calling, something ingrained in his very DNA. Yet, life often has its own twists and turns, and sometimes plans get sidetracked. There may be lessons to learn before an artist can fully embrace their true passion.

Such was the case for the man who is now the official voice of TikTok in the U.S. In an interview with El Planteo, Ruba made it clear that the only secret to success is "gathering the courage and working hard for what you want." The creator of “Sucio” revealed that his career began in a different arena than he originally imagined.

Ruba, TikTok And Social Media As Launchpads For New Personalities

In the U.S., Ruba's unmistakable voice has become synonymous with TikTok promos, a role he earned through his natural charisma as a presenter. With nearly two million followers, his ability to captivate an audience is undeniable.

Thanks to the engaging and lively persona he has crafted, doors have opened for him. His journey is a bit like a modern-day fairy tale: one where a young man dreamed of music, but the stage for his talent wasn't yet ready.

"I've always known that music was my destiny," Ruba confessed. "But life took me down other paths first, and I had to flow with what the moment required. Sometimes, I felt like my true self was on hold, but I knew I had to give my all in each phase because everything was preparing me for something greater."

‘Sucio': More Than Just a Latin Track

Finally, the time came for Ruba to show the world his musical side. With his Spanish-language single “Sucio,” he aims to deliver more than just entertainment: he's sending a powerful message. "It's a fun, flirty song, but it goes beyond the superficial. I want everyone to know they deserve the best and should never settle for less," he said with conviction.

Singing in Spanish has been a unique challenge for this California-born artist. "Speaking can be hard sometimes, but singing in Spanish feels different—it's like the words flow naturally," he explained.

Latin music has been a source of inspiration for Ruba, and he admires artists like Bad Bunny, Manuel Turizo and Becky G. "There are so many different artists I really love and admire. Those are just a few," he noted. His admiration extends beyond contemporary names, as well. "Ricky Martin was actually my first crush," he shared with a smile.

Jamaican DNA

Ruba's identity also shines through in his distinctive style, particularly his hair, which he views as an essential part of his persona. "I have a relationship with my hair," he joked, alluding to the care and attention his dreadlocks require. Though it's a lot of work, his locks have been a part of him since childhood.

Hailing from California with Jamaican roots, Ruba also touched on his experience with cannabis. "I'm Jamaican, so I feel like it's in our DNA," he said, reflecting on how his heritage shapes his view of the plant.

In California, where marijuana is both legal and widely accepted, Ruba appreciates its benefits: "I think marijuana is amazing. It's great." While he used to be a frequent user, his approach has since evolved. "I used to consume a lot more, but now it's more occasional," he explained.

A Chameleon Talent

What sets Ruba apart is his ability to adapt and grow. "If you stay in your comfort zone, you won't grow," he shared, reflecting on his journey. "I've learned to keep moving forward, to trust that the right moment will come, and when it does, you have to be ready to embrace it fully."

Now, with this new chapter, Ruba is ready to focus entirely on his music. "Nothing lasts forever," he affirmed, fully committed to whatever comes next. "It's time to put all my focus on music because I know this is my true path."

Ruba's new music represents a refreshed version of himself—shaped by past experiences but focused on the future. "Everything I've done until now has prepared me for this moment. Now it's time to show the world who I really am," he concluded, with the kind of certainty that only comes from someone who has learned to navigate life's currents and trust in their destiny.

In every word, Ruba reveals his essence: a reminder that even when our goals are delayed by circumstances beyond our control, they should never be forgotten. Just like Ruba, the time to follow them may come when you least expect it.
