Europe's Top Cannabis B2B Event, ICBC, Returns To Berlin In April 2025

Europe’s largest cannabis B2B event is returning to Berlin in April 2025 as the International Cannabis Business Conference (ICBC) sets the stage for a landmark year in Germany’s rapidly evolving legal cannabis industry. Scheduled for April 29-30 at the Estrel Berlin Hotel, ICBC Berlin 2025 is expected to draw over 5,000 cannabis professionals from more than 80 countries, representing every major segment of the global cannabis supply chain.

Germany, now emerging as the most important cannabis market in Europe, has entered a transformative era. The country’s new CanG law, which came into effect on April 1, 2024, has already fueled exponential growth in medical cannabis prescriptions. Industry analysts estimate a tenfold increase in patient numbers over the past year. According to a Bloomwell Group report, prescriptions for medical cannabis grew by 1,000% between March and December 2024.

The removal of cannabis from Germany’s Narcotics List has been central to this surge, streamlining the prescribing process and boosting domestic production. While Germany's medical cannabis market was already Europe's largest before the reform, it's now expanding faster than ever. Zuanic & Associates projected that if only 1% of the population became cash-paying medical patients, the market could hit €1.7 billion by the end of 2025.

In tandem, the adult-use landscape is also shifting. As of July 2024, local regulators across Germany began accepting applications for cannabis cultivation associations, a key feature of the CanG law. Dozens of these associations have already launched, with North Rhine-Westphalia alone planning to approve up to 3,000. These groups will be pivotal in supplying cannabis genetics and products to consumers within the legal framework.

“Yes, I can imagine having my own cannabis to grow at home,” responded 51% of Germans in a recent Pronova BKK survey, underscoring rising public interest in home cultivation. With adults now allowed to grow up to three cannabis plants for personal use, companies supplying homegrow equipment and genetics are seeing a spike in demand. A YouGov survey found that 7% of Germans have already bought cannabis seeds or clones, while another 11% say they plan to.

This groundswell of interest is matched by strong momentum for regional adult-use commerce pilots, expected to launch soon. These pilots, combined with the growing number of cultivation associations, signal a fundamental reshaping of the cannabis landscape in Europe's most populous country.

ICBC Berlin 2025 offers a front-row seat to this historic evolution.
