Sprint Expects Favorable Response To New Phone (S, AAPL)

Sprint Nextel S has reported that it has a long waiting list of customers interested in buying its new phone EVO. The phone will feature a high-speed wireless connection and is made by HTC Corp. Dan Schulman, head of Sprint’s (S) prepaid business, said that the company will announce pricing and availability for the phone “shortly”. Sprint is likely to schedule the launch to coincide with the introduction of the new iPhone AAPL EVO is expected to be first 4G phone in the US. Reuters has reported that the company expects the phone to give it a head start over its competitors. Sprint is also planning to revamp its prepaid segment. It is looking to launch a “no frill” handset to cater to the older phone user market.
