Wal-Mart Stores (WMT) Profits Up, Same Store Sales Down

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. WMT announced on Tuesday morning that it beat consensus Wall Street estimates. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. reported that its 1st quarter net income rose 10% to $3.32 billion, or 88 cents per share, up from $3.02 billion, or 77 cents per share, a year earlier. Revenue climbed 6% to $99.85 billion, up from $94.24 billion a year earlier. However, same store sales dropped 1.1% from a year earlier. According to a survey of analysts by Thomson Reuters, the average Wall Street estimate called for earnings of 85 cents per share, on revenue of $98.45 billion.
