Icahn Boosts Chesapeake Stake, Buys Anadarko Shares

Carl Icahn's hedge fund, Icahn Capital LP, boosted its stake in natural gas producer Chesapeake Energy CHK to 12.7 million million shares as of June 30 from 2.12 million as of March 31, giving Icahan control of 2% of the Oklahoma-based company. Icahn also started a position in Anadarko Petroleum APC, the second-largest U.S. independent oil and natural gas producer. Icahn Capital now owns 2 million Anadarko shares. The fund also purchased 240,000 American depositary receipts of Ensco Plc ESV, the London-based offshore drilling services contractor, during the second quarter, accroding to a 13F filing.
