Over the last few years, the Virtual Reality (VR) sector has seen a boom, particularly in the gaming industry. From interactive gaming universes to sports-themed games, VR is becoming part and parcel of the gaming industry and is now worth billions as an industry.
This disruption is not only limited to the traditional gaming industry. It seems the NFT space is about to be given the VR treatment. Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are one of the most popular products of blockchain technology. They have also become a mainstay in the world of gaming.
How AEXLAB is Doing This
One of the major players in the VR space is AEXLAB, a virtual reality technology studio. With years of experience in creating innovative VR tools for companies like Red Bull and the American Institute of Architects, AEXLAB has now set its sights on bringing together the worlds of NFTs and VR with a new gaming offering.
This project is the culmination of years of work and the potential of two individually disruptive industries. It will be launched in conjunction with the Metadrop platform. As per the official report, this new project is titled VAIL VR and can be accessed by interested parties via the Metadrop.com website, with an NFT auction starting on November 30, 2021.
The NFTs within the VAIL VR world will be called VAILIENS and will also act as ‘pets’ within the universe, and each has unique attributes from the time they are created. The VAILIENS will be AI-generated when they are minted, as per the announcement. In the past, NFTs were leveraged in games to develop collectibles or characters that did not interact with others but only traded.
Given that this game is based on VR, this will not be the case. Instead, the VAILIENS will start out as 3D PFPs. To start, VAILIENS will only be responsive to touch and basic commands but will begin heavily interacting with others, even engaging in combat and races in the future.
This essentially leverages the power of both NFTs for digital asset ownership and VR for actual gameplay. Holding a VAILIENS NFT also comes with several advantages for the players. As VAIL VR has announced, VAILIENS holders will be granted access to VAIL VR Alpha and Beta testing and the VAIL Social Club.
VAIL VR also announced that in total, only 13,370 VAILIENS will be created and distributed. Out of these, 1,500 will be reserved for the earliest investors in VAILIENS, 1,070 will be used for community growth efforts such as contests, and 10,800 will be available to the public via Metadrop.
From November 26, 2021, the VAIL VR multiplayer servers will go live. From November 30 to December 2, 2021, six different auctions for the breeds of VAILIENS will occur. To close out the year, VAIL VR will be holding a special auction for 100 VAIL SOCIAL CLUB cards on metadrop.com.
The New Way to Game
If there is an industry that has to be constantly innovating, it is the gaming industry. In the last few years, both NFTs and VR have made their way into the gaming sector individually, but now, games like VAIL VR say that they are bringing both together at last.
With all these efforts, it is the players themselves that stand to get the most benefit. Through NFTs, they can comfortably secure ownership of their digital assets. Through VR, their gameplay can be made more interactive and enjoyable.
