Fighting For Your Right to Earn: Introducing Galaxy Fight Club

If 2021 was the year in which NFTs crashed into the public consciousness, 2022 will see their long-term viability tested. Curious investors and commentators are busy wondering whether high-priced tokens will hold their value in the months ahead, while NFT-centric platforms are striving to onboard crypto O.Gs and hardcore gamers eager to put skin in the game. Whatever your view on NFTs as a technology and investment, things are going to get interesting in the months ahead.

Play-to-earn games will probably be at the forefront of the NFT industry this year, as multiple projects seek to build on the momentum of success stories like Axie Infinity. It’s not just success they’re chasing either; major cryptocurrency platforms such as TRON and Huobi have launched nine-figure funds for projects encompassing gamefi and NFTs, representing a carrot that gaming developers and studios simply cannot turn down.

Battle Royale

Among the slew of gamefi ventures aiming to take the industry by storm is Galaxy Fight Club, a colorful, cross-platform PvP battle game where players leverage avatars to fight for crypto spoils.

Having already sold nearly $10 million worth of NFTs from its Genesis Collection, the project is preparing for a highly-anticipated IDO on January 6, wherein its native $GCOIN will go under the hammer. Such is the excitement surrounding the event, some 20,000 applicants made it onto the whitelist on the Polkastarter launchpad.

Designed to be played on both PC and mobile, Galaxy Fight Club is typical of the current wave of blockchain-based releases; namely the sort that rewards industrious gameplay and sensible investments. Uniquely, however, it has interoperability at its core, its developers have taken inspiration from the Super Smash Bros video game of the late 90s. On that occasion, Nintendo created a playground for various characters from its franchises to come together for the first time, and the crossover fighting game became a smash hit on the Nintendo 64, GameCube, Wii, and Switch consoles.

In the same vein, the developers of Galaxy Fight Club want to set the stage for a war between popular crypto avatars: thus, a player can leverage their Bull from Bulls on the Block to battle with an Ape from Bored Ape Yacht Club. More NFT partners will be added over time, and of course, there are plenty of native characters (Galaxy Fighters) to interact with too. Although the original Genesis Collection has long since sold out, desirable NFTs can be purchased on the secondary market via OpenSea. Genesis Fighters have the advantage of generating between 5-15 $GCOINs each day according to their rarity, and enable owners to win rare Gold Keys and participate in tournaments.

Battling is, to be sure, a vague concept; so what can gamers expect when they sign up? In a nutshell, a veritable feast of play-to-earn possibilities via both one-on-one and team battles. As you rampage across the map pitting your weapons against other players, you’ll come across numerous obstacles and objects (loot boxes, health packs, etc) that help you level up your avatar. This can be achieved in several ways, from improving the type of armor worn by your fighter to the sort of weapon it uses in battle.

Winning the Fight

The ultimate goal, of course, is to construct a fearsome fighting force: a rare breed of fighter equipped with powerful weapons and impenetrable armor. The game’s leveling system is based on experience points, which can be gained by participating in – and particularly winning – matches. Due to the tokenized nature of the game, NFTs that are sold are tied to the experience points and levels they have accumulated.

In essence, Galaxy Fight Club aims to entice players with the prospect of buying genesis fighters, training them, and re-selling these so-called “second-generation fighters” for a handsome profit. Along the way, players can earn bragging rights by slaying opponents and trading items (swords, silver keys to open loot boxes, skins, armor, etc) on the marketplace. Because weapons significantly impact the strength of a fighter, they are especially coveted.

With the gamefi arms race heating up, Galaxy Fight Club has set out its stall as a top choice for battle-crazed players the world over.
