Payments behemoth Visa Inc V has announced a partnership with Crypto.com to launch an NFT collection of iconic goals from five legendary soccer players, ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.

Iconic goals by legendary soccer stars Jared Borgetti, Tim Cahill, Carli Lloyd, Michael Owen, and Maxi Rodriguez will be minted into NFTs and will be auctioned.

Fans who attend the World Cup tournament will also be given the chance to create their own digital art.

A high-quality printable art file and autographed memorabilia from the renowned players depicted in the NFTs will also be sent to the fans who place the highest bid for each NFT at the end of the auction.

Fans will receive NFTs in their Crypto.com wallets.

The auction ends on Nov. 8

The auction began on Nov. at 12:00 p.m. GMT and runs through Nov. 8, 9:00 p.m. GMT (4:00 p.m. ET).

“As FIFA World Cup 2022 approaches, we want to celebrate football, art, and technology through the lens of what makes the FIFA World Cup so special – wildly impassioned fans, legendary athletes and for a few short weeks, the ability to bring the world together in a uniquely connected way,” said Andrea Fairchild, senior vice president and head of sponsorships, Visa.

The digital artwork was designed using an algorithm by award-winning XK Studios which transformed the iconic movements into dynamic works of art.

Auction proceeds to be donated

All auction proceeds will be given by Visa to Street Child United, a United Kingdom-based charity that seeks to remove the widespread stigmatization of children with connections to the streets.

The FIFA Fan Festival in Doha, Qatar, will feature an interactive pitch where fans will be able to create their own famous moves in the Visa Masters of Movement space.

Fans will be able to produce digital art that is motivated by their own signature movements.

Fans will enter a digital LED pitch that has tracking equipment so that it may record and turn their signature motions into digital art.

Fans will select the color scheme based on their preferred national colors, which goes beyond taking a shot at a goal or showcasing their talents while playing with others to create individualized, dynamic artwork.

Digital art will be emailed as a souvenir, and eligible fans can also choose to receive the digital art minted as a one-of-a-kind NFT.
