'DeSantis Doesn't Get It:' Rival GOP Candidate Takes Jab At Florida Governor's Bitcoin Know-How

Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has accused Florida Governor Ron DeSantis of having a shallow understanding of Bitcoin BTC/USD.

What Happened: Ramaswamy’s comments come after DeSantis on Wednesday launched his own presidential campaign on Twitter. He said that Bitcoin will die if Joe Biden is reelected.  "The current regime, clearly, they have it out for Bitcoin. And if it continues for another four years, they'll probably end up killing it," he warned.

Ramaswamy in a CoinDesk interview dismissed DeSantis’ remarks ahead of the 2024 U.S. presidential election.

"I understand this stuff in a much more deep and rich way," Ramaswamy told CoinDesk in an interview.

Why It Matters: According to Ramaswamy, even the way DeSantis said ‘Do things like Bitcoin,’ shows that he doesn’t really get it. “When we think about the leader we want in the White House, that needs to be somebody who understands the ‘why’ behind Bitcoin.”

Ramaswamy said DeSantis has adopted many of the proposals outlined in his book “Woke, Inc.: Inside Corporate America’s Social Justice Scam,” which include the significance of Bitcoin and the rejection of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs).

He believes that DeSantis has studied his book and he has adopted many of the proposals as his own. "But I’m not sure he has the same understanding of it that I do, be it central bank digital currencies or Bitcoin," he adds.

Price Action: At the time of writing, BTC was trading at $26,447, up 0.94% in the last 24 hours, according to Benzinga Pro.
