A recent Twitter poll by Michael Saylor, executive chairman of MicroStrategy Inc MSTR, has shown that a majority of voters in the United States want presidential candidates to support their right to use Bitcoin BTC/USD.
What Happened: According to a Saturday Twitter poll conducted by Saylor, an overwhelming 83.8% of voters responded “Yes” when asked whether they believe a presidential candidate must support their right to Bitcoin to secure their vote.
At the time of writing, the poll garnered nearly 31,000 responses in total, with only 16.2% of respondents voting in the negative.

Why It Matters: This poll highlights the growing importance of cryptocurrency issues in political discourse. Recently, Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis criticized President Joe Biden’s approach towards Bitcoin during a Twitter Space discussion with Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
DeSantis said that Bitcoin will die if Biden is reelected. "The current regime, clearly, they have it out for Bitcoin. And if it continues for another four years, they'll probably end up killing it," he warned.
Just a few days ago, at the Bitcoin Conference in Miami, Florida, Robert Kennedy Jr. emphasized the need to defend BTC against what he called "invasive surveillance." He expressed his belief that Bitcoin is necessary for defending privacy and maintaining freedom.
Earlier this week, former Coinbase CTO Balaji Srinivasan said that Bitcoin will play a significant role in the 2024 presidential elections, much as Twitter and Facebook did in past campaigns.
Price Action: At the time of writing, Bitcoin was trading at $28,125 up 3.83% in the last 24 hours, according to Benzinga Pro.
