'Doge City' Debuts In New Futurama Episode — Dogecoin Co-Creator Reacts

Futurama aficionados have been left thrilled by the return of the beloved series on Hulu, with its latest season proving to be an instant hit. 

What Happened: A sneak peek clip from Episode 3 of Futurama Season 11 has sent fans into a frenzy by revealing the show’s fascinating take on cryptocurrencies, introducing a captivating locale called “Crypto Country.”

The aired episode, titled “How the West Was 1010001,” hit Hulu screens on Aug. 6, immersing viewers in a captivating storyline where the main characters find themselves indebted to the notorious Robot Mafia. Forced into action, they embark on a journey westward, leading them to the realm of “Crypto Country.”

Why It Matters:  During their escapades, the show’s cast delves into the world of cryptocurrencies, with a notable emphasis on the meme coin Dogecoin DOGE/USD. Aptly named “Doge City,” their adventures take them to this vibrant metropolis where cryptocurrency mining becomes the main source of income for its inhabitants.

Dogecoin’s creator, Billy Markus, took to social media to express his delight, sharing a screenshot from the episode that features a tablet displaying the words “Doge City.” Markus marveled at the fact that “the silly thing” he created a decade ago had found its way into an episode of Futurama.
