Dogecoin Creator Billy Markus Lists Favorite Tokens — Did Shiba Inu Secure A Place?

Zinger Key Points
  • Dogecoin creator offers cautionary advice to investors.
  • Markus's favorite cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Billy Markus, co-creator of Dogecoin and popularly known as Shibetoshi Nakamoto, offered insights into his views on cryptocurrency investments and his favorite coins.

Markus recently said, "My [number one] rule of crypto is never put more money into it than you’re willing to burn in a fire."

While Markus expressed his preference for major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin BTC/USD and Ethereum ETH/USD, he humorously described Dogecoin as "just bitcoin in a dog suit," in light-hearted comments that reflect Markus's playful approach to the meme coin he co-created.

Interestingly, Markus also mentioned his aversion to ERC-20 tokens, a popular standard for creating smart contract-based tokens on the Ethereum blockchain, stating, "I don’t like basically any erc-20 token."

A follower responded to Markus's initial tweet with a witty remark: "But at least when I burn money, it makes a cool fire for a few seconds."

To which Shibetoshi playfully replied, suggesting, "There should be a website that shows a fire relative to your crypto wallet."

The broader crypto market has witnessed a sharp decline over the last couple of days, apparently over the Fed's signal of a rate hike, with the top 10 cryptocurrencies clocking in double-digit losses.

Major cryptocurrencies like Ripple XRP/USD, Solana SOL/USD, Dogecoin DOGE/USD, and Shiba Inu SHIB/USD are trading down 18%, 12, 18 and 23% respectively, over the last seven days.
