Brett Harrison is best known as the former president of FTX US, an embattled U.S.-regulated cryptocurrency exchange that he left before the famous collapse.
As a developer of trading infrastructure and a leader in using artificial intelligence (AI) in fintech, Harrison is not defined by his experience establishing the company’s regulated business operations, or launching its U.S. retail stock brokerage and trading platform.
Harrison serves a greater vision: Bring more innovative trading technology at retail and institutional levels to the DeFi and traditional finance (TradFi) spaces.
Harrison will share some of his insights regarding the emerging future of DeFi and AI at the Benzinga Future of Digital Assets 2023 event in New York City on Nov. 14, 2023.
Amid the public deflating of FTX, Harrison capitalized and launched his new venture, Architect Financial Technologies Inc., where he now minds the helm as Founder and CEO.
In January 2023, Architect announced $5 million in pre-product financing with the stated goal to “develop adaptable infrastructure products that enable institutions to trade across centralized and decentralized digital asset markets.” The seed funding round included investors such as Circle Ventures, Coinbase Ventures, and Anthony Scaramucci.
Architect launched its beta platform in April.
"As more institutions move into digital asset markets, and as traditional markets move further toward digitizing instruments and fundamental processes, we aim to provide firms with trading technology that both position them well for the future," Harrison commented.
What to watch…
Harrison is a builder who seeks to define his mark on the world of digital assets by bringing together AI and better UX to empower investors with a new generation of tools. Before joining FTX US, Harrison was Head of Semi-Systematic Technology at Citadel Securities, where he managed technology for the firm’s Options, ETF, OTC, and ADR trading. He also worked at Jane Street, where he led the development of that firm’s algorithmic trading system.
Consider, Harrison also published papers in mathematical journals while still in High School, then studied computer science with a focus on AI at Harvard University,
Harrison has the intellectual underpinnings and the hands-on experience building systems that work to help walk the necessary line between DeFi and TradFi and between Web3 and the widely expanding area of AI. That’s what makes Harrison (and Architect) someone to watch in Web3 2023.
