Dogecoin Co-Creator Slams Joe Biden For Wanting To Tax Billionaires, Says The President 'Thinks You Are Stupid'

Dogecoin DOGE/USD co-creator Billy Makrus, widely known as Shibetoshi Nakamoto, on Thursday, expressed dissatisfaction with President Joe Biden, suggesting that he believes the American people and those who support him on taxing billionaires are unintelligent.

What Happened: Markus in a post on X said, "Joe Biden thinks you are stupid (and to be fair, everyone who hit the like button on this post is). Biden has raised the national debt by 3.7 trillion dollars during his time as President, more than all the billionaires in the US are worth combined."

Biden called upon Congress in February during his State of the Union address to approve his billionaire minimum tax, stressing the importance of ensuring that billionaires do not pay a lower tax rate than essential workers like school teachers or firefighters.

Why It Matters: It is worth noting that while co-creators Markus and Jackson Palmer have distanced themselves from the DOGE, other individuals involved in the development of Dogecoin remain part of the foundation.

According to the foundation, its board includes advisors such as Jared Birchall, who is closely associated with and represents tech billionaire Elon Musk, as well as Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin.

Meanwhile, Senator Elizabeth Warren’s vocal criticisms of Elon Musk have also grabbed headlines. Her calls for an investigation into his alleged interference with a Ukrainian military operation have drawn both support and opposition. Markus, in his statement, referred to Senator Warren as a “phony piece of garbage."

Price Action: At the time of writing, BTC was trading at $26,307, up 0.32% in the last 24 hours, according to Benzinga Pro.
