Bitcoin Tops $27,000 After PCE Data; Pepe Emerges As Top Gainer

Bitcoin BTC/USD traded higher, with the cryptocurrency prices trading above the $27,000 level on Friday.

Ethereum ETH/USD also moved higher, but traded below the key $1,700 mark this morning.

Core PCE prices in the U.S. rose by 0.1% month-over-month in August, the least since Nov. 2020, while the annual rate, regarded as the Fed’s preferred inflation measure, eased to 3.9%.

Pepe PEPE/USD was the top gainer over the prior 24 hours, while Maker MKR/USD turned out to be the biggest loser.

At the time of writing, the global crypto market cap rose to $1.08 trillion, recording a 24-hour gain of 2%. BTC was trading higher by 2% at $27,003 while ETH rose by around 3.3% to $1,674 on Friday.
