After joining hands with Polygon Network as a validator last week, Google Cloud has now joined with Web3Auth to launch a new Firebase extension for businesses to smoothly transition to Web3. Web3Auth has investor backing from Sequoia Capital, Union Square Ventures, Binance and more.
What Happened?
The Wallet-as-a-Service (WaaS) provider Web3Auth declared the launch of its Web3 extension on the Firebase Extensions Hub, teaming up with Alphabet’s GOOGL Google Cloud.
The launch will provide existing businesses and applications on Firebase to easily onboard their users onto Web3. The Web3 capabilities can be merged both on the frontend and backend.
The users’ email addresses, full names, Ethereum addresses, and UIDs, enable applications to aggregate user demographics and find look-alike audiences are all part of the user access after the consolidation.

Why Does It Matter?
Web3Auth’s Multi-Party Computation (MPC) will generate a public-private key pair for users to own a self-custodial Web3 wallet with familiar social logins such as email, SMS OTPs and biometric IDs. User logins will be offered in a smooth process with global latency times below 1.5 seconds that meet enterprise-grade standards.
The backbone for this offering is Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) for autoscaling capabilities and Cloud Armor for network security against DDoS and application attacks.
Zhen Yu Yong, co-founder, and CEO of Web3Auth, said the collab will create a multiregion cloud infrastructure for supporting global demand and enable an easy user experience for Web2-centric applications and Web3-native dApps.
Web2 and Web3 are not mutually exclusive and future internet applications will combine the strengths of both, said Mitesh Agarwal, managing director of solutions and technology for Asia Pacific at Google Cloud. He applauded Web3Auth's launch of the Web3 extension and leveraging Google Cloud's capabilities in a statement.
