Ethereum Hits $2,400 Following Jobless Claims Data; Bitcoin SV, Internet Computer Among Top Gainers

Bitcoin BTC/USD edged higher, with the cryptocurrency prices trading above the $42,700 level on Thursday.

Ethereum ETH/USD, meanwhile, recorded sharp gains, trading above the key $2,400 mark this morning.

Bitcoin SV BSV/USD was the top gainer over the prior 24 hours, while Bonk BONK/USD
turned out to be the biggest loser.

U.S. initial jobless claims rose by 12,000 to 218,000 in the week ending Dec. 23, compared to market estimates of 210,000.

At the time of writing, the global crypto market cap rose to $1.69 trillion, recording a 24-hour gain of 0.8%. BTC was trading lower by 0.2% at $42,787 while ETH rose by around 4.7% to $2,406 on Thursday.
