Sonic, a gaming platform on the Solana SOL/USD blockchain, and Injective, a Layer-1 blockchain, on Thursday announced a strategic partnership to develop what they claim to be the industry’s first cross-chain AI Agent platform.
This initiative, dubbed the Smart Agent Hub, aims to merge the capabilities of Solana and Injective, creating a synergistic environment for AI agent development across blockchain ecosystems.
The collaboration leverages Sonic’s HyperGrid technology to establish a dedicated Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) grid within Injective, facilitating direct communication between the Solana and Injective networks through the Inter-Blockchain Communication Protocol (IBC).
This integration allows for the execution of Solana smart contracts on Injective, opening new possibilities for interoperability.
A key aspect of this venture is the bidirectional bridge that will support the seamless transfer of assets like SOL and Injective INJ/USD tokens, enhancing liquidity and user experience by allowing for both wrapped and native token transfers.
This setup not only aims to simplify asset movement but also promises developers a unified experience, where they can deploy Solana-based applications onto Injective with ease.
Eric Chen, CEO of Injective Labs, said, “This industry needs infrastructure that breaks down chain-specific barriers. Our joint effort with Sonic creates a foundation for developers to build applications that leverage the best of both Solana and Injective ecosystems. Together, we're laying the groundwork for what we believe will be one of the most significant AI-driven innovations in all of Web3.”
Speaking with Benzinga, Chris Zhu, Co-founder and CEO of Sonic acknowledged the complexities in state synchronization and cross-chain messaging but emphasized that Sonic’s existing HyperGrid infrastructure would be pivotal in addressing these issues.
Zhu highlighted the strategic advantage of Sonic’s partnerships, particularly noting, “With over 10 games already deployed on Sonic’s network and numerous hackathon-incubated projects, we provide AI developers immediate access to a diverse gaming ecosystem ready to integrate AI agents.”
Asked about economic models and governance, Zhu outlined a system where gas fees on the Injective SVM grid would initially be in SOL, with a mechanism for revenues to be cycled back into the ecosystem through Injective's burn auction system.
On governance, he mentioned a token-based model designed to protect against manipulation by large token holders, ensuring a democratic approach to decision-making.
This partnership is set to roll out its first phase in Q1 2025, with plans to integrate various sectors like gaming, DeFi, and social platforms into the Smart Agent Hub.
