Would you believe that you can get covered by the largest vision insurance provider in the nation for the cost of your lunch?

For as low as $13/month, VSP® Individual Vision Plans provides flexible coverage with multiple payment options, based on your customized needs. These plans were created for people who may not have coverage through an employer-sponsored plan. As the only national not-for-profit vision company, VSP places people over profits.

Through its “Plan Wizard” feature, you can input your personal information and answer a few questions to find a customized, affordable plan. The most popular plans are the Standard Plan and EasyOptions. The Standard Plan is ideal for those who want to save on eye exams and with basic glasses. EasyOptions is great for those who want flexibility, such as an eye exam and glasses with progressive lenses.

There’s also an online tool to find out how much your eye exam might cost, based on your location, previous exams, frame costs and enhancements. VSP Individual Vision Plans aim to lower out-of-pocket costs on these often costly eye exams, lenses and enhancements like progressives, with typical savings on the Standard Plan around $200 a year.1

VSP members also get an extra $40 to spend on select frame brands.2 In addition, you’ll save on many lens enhancements including scratch-resistant coating, anti-glare coating, impact-resistant lenses, progressives, and adaptive UV-protection and high-index lenses.

VSP offers the largest network of private-practice doctors and most plans include a comprehensive eye exam every year, with a small copay. When you get your annual WellVision Exam® from a VSP network doctor, they’ll check for serious health conditions, such as diabetes and high-blood pressure.

The whole process functions as follows: Pick the plan that is right for you, with the payment option that fits your needs. Then, make an appointment and visit the doctor for your eye exam, preferably in-network. If you need glasses or contacts, your doctor will assist you. Last, you’ll pay your copay, and your doctor will process your claim. If you choose to visit out-of-network optical centers, you will have to submit those yourself and will likely be reimbursed at a lower rate.

With great coverage and predictable premiums, it’s no surprise that more than 80 million Americans choose VSP Vision Care as their vision insurance. Founded in 1955, by a group of optometrists who wanted to expand access to affordable eye care, VSP has coverage for every stage of life.

1 Savings are based on national averages on comprehensive eye exams and most commonly purchased frame brands and may vary by VSP plan and purchase selection, average savings determined after benefits are applied.

2 Brands/promotion subject to change. Available only to VSP members with applicable plan benefits. Offers are only available through VSP network doctors and in-network locations.
