Pfizer's North Carolina Plant Severely Damaged By Tornado: Report

Pfizer, Inc.'s PFE plant in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, has reportedly suffered heavy damage from a tornado.

The company was assessing the situation to determine the impact on production, Reuters reported, citing an email statement from a company spokesperson.

The site was one of the largest sterile injectable product facilities. The unit also manufactures products like anti-infectives, neuromuscular blockers, vials, and syringes.

The tornado was on the ground for a path length of 16.5 miles, prevailing for over 30 minutes (12.25 pm to 12.8 pm)), and yielded peak winds of 150 mph, the National Weather Service said. It was the first EF-3 tornado ever observed in central North Carolina in July.

The company's employees at the site are safe, the report added. The Rocky Mountain facility employs over 4,500 employees.
