Boeing China Appoints New President With Chinese Origin Amidst Sino-US Tension: Report

Boeing Co BA has reportedly appointed Chinese-born Alvin Liu as the head of its China unit as it struggles with a drought in U.S. imports to the crucial aviation market.

The move assumes significance as China accounts for about a quarter of the global aircraft imports, reported Reuters.

Liu is a native of Liaoning Province in the northeast part of China.

The recent dealings between Boeing and China have been rough due to the geopolitical and trade tensions between Washington and China.

China was the first country to ban 737 MAX following fatal accidents and has been slow to restart imports.

Liu joined the company in 2022 from the auto industry.

The report noted Boeing estimated that China will require 8,500 new airplanes and $550 billion in commercial services in the coming 20 years.

Both Boeing and Airbus SE EADSY now have China-born top executives for the region.

Price Action: BA shares are trading lower by 0.22% at $231.75 in premarket on the last check Wednesday.
