Spirit AeroSystems Holdings Inc SPR has appointed Patrick M. Shanahan, a member of its Board of Directors, as interim President and Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately.
The company said Thomas C. Gentile no longer serves as President, Chief Executive Officer, and Director.
Spirit AeroSystem's Board will conduct a search to identify a new Chief Executive Officer.
Shanahan has served on the Spirit AeroSystems Board since November 2021. Shanahan's career spans both commercial and military programs.
Shanahan served as the 33rd Deputy Secretary of Defense, where he helped lead the development of key Department of Defense policies and strategies.
"Pat is a seasoned executive with nearly four decades of commercial and defense aerospace leadership and senior Department of Defense experience, and he has a valuable customer perspective," said Chair of the Board Robert D. Johnson.
Spirit will release its third quarter 2023 financial results on Wednesday, November 1, 2023.
Price Action: SPR shares are trading lower by 1.20% at $15.95 on the last check Monday.
