The opening of the showroom marked Denza’s first local delivery of the D9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) in Cambodia.
Denza, initially a 50-50 joint venture between BYD and Daimler since 2010, saw Daimler rebranded as Mercedes-Benz in February 2022.
BYD subsequently increased its stake to 90% in Denza. The D9 represents the refreshed Denza brand’s first model, alongside the N-series SUVs (N7 and N8), the report noted.
On July 16, Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Manet announced that BYD intends to establish an EV plant in the country capable of assembling 20,000 vehicles annually for both domestic and international markets.
