Here's How Applied UV Inc. Says It Is Looking To Lead the Fight Against the World's Most Successful Beings

The world belongs to human beings.

The countless examples of human prowess provide a natural segue to the conclusion that humans are nature’s most successful beings, but that depends on the definition of success — and we might not be by a long shot in multiple categories. From an evolutionary standpoint, human beings have existed for only 300,000 years, encompassing just 0.0086% of the time life has existed.

Some say that the reality is the world is dominated by microbes. The oldest living thing is cyanobacteria, a creature whose 3.5 billion-years of existence makes the human’s 300,000 sound pretty small in evolutionary time.

The COVID-19 pandemic proved a potent challenge to homo sapiens and reinstated the need for safety measures against the possible rulers of the world. Applied UV Inc. AUVI, a company with a focus on the development and acquisition of technologies that address infection prevention, says it was ahead of the curve in realizing the world’s need for its services.

With a product suite encompassing healthcare, hospitality and commercial markets, Applied UV hopes to aid in the preservation of the human species for the long haul.

Applied UV: Fighting the Good Fight?

Applied UV says that at the core of its disinfection technology is the utilization of photo catalytic oxidation (PCO) combined with the use of ultraviolet C (UVC), a narrow light that is used to destroy pathogens safely, thoroughly and automatically. This dual technology powers Applied UV’s subsidiary SteriLumen Inc., a company with a Data-Driven Disinfection methodology used to combat healthcare-acquired infections (HAIs) and emerging pathogens.

Applied UV states that healthcare customers, laboratories and healthcare experts have noted that its PCO and UVC disinfection technology is fast and effective. While all microorganisms respond to UVC light in different ways, laboratory testing has confirmed that the power of PCO with UVC can kill 99.999% of dangerous pathogens. Typically placed  in pathogen “loaded” environments, this technology has proven to provide huge sanitary protection, for example, over pathogen-loaded sinks and drains, notably among the most infectious spots in a hospital.

Applied UV says its suite of devices will be a strong fit for hospital and assisted living environments, but its 3 recent acquisitions widens the company’s target market considerably. For example, the acquisition of KES Science & Technology Inc., a high-quality disinfection system integrator, has applications suited for major post-harvest companies such as Walmart Inc. WLMT, Costco Wholesale Corp. COST and Loblaw Cos. Ltd. (TSE: L).

Airocide, another recent acquisition, boasts a string of PCO air purifiers that were created for NASA. They will further extend Applied UV’s potential applications to wineries, allergy-intensive environments and other similar spaces.

Scientific Air Management, another recent acquisition, could allow for the purification of large public spaces by using a patented technology perfect for restaurants, hotels, airports and essentially all large and potentially congested areas.

While the pandemic brought a host of entrants into the disinfection space, Applied UV aims to differentiate itself by creating a one-stop destination for all disinfection protocols, regardless of industry, location or size. Its products may help win the fight against the true rulers of the world: microorganisms.
