Different types of businesses, organizations, and institutions have vehicle fleets and, unless they are electric, the vehicles all have one thing in common: they need fuel.

As the number of U.S. gas stations declines and on-demand services rise, there is reportedly a growing demand for fuel to be brought to the vehicle rather than the vehicle operator seeking out the fuel.

Big oil players such as Exxon Mobil Corp. XOM and Shell plc SHEL have invested in on-demand fuel delivery through the Yoshi and TapUp ventures, respectively.

Meanwhile, one Florida company is focusing first on its home state by offering on-demand fuel delivery and aims to expand nationally across multiple markets and sectors.

EzFill Holdings Inc. EZFL signed two supply contracts in Florida earlier this month with two significantly different organizations.

EzFill will deliver fuel to Monsignor Edward Pace High School in Miami Gardens’ fleet of vehicles as well as its teachers and administrators.

“The transportation of students has become increasingly stressful and complicated for school administrators and workers amid the ongoing pandemic,” EzFill CEO Mike McConnell said. “Relying on EzFill to fuel their vehicles will result in one less thing for them to worry about.”

EzFill has also signed a fuel supply deal with Miami Lakes-based Floridian Clinical Research.

The expansion into two new sectors is another step the company has taken to widen its industry service areas.

“As we continue to expand throughout Florida and elsewhere in the U.S., our expertise and relationships in multiple sectors will enable us to significantly extend our customer base,” McConnell said.

Three Separate Buckets?

EzFill reports that it is currently the only on-demand fuel-delivery service operating across three sectors: consumer, commercial, and specialty.

The company, which has similar supply contracts in Florida with fleets operated by 1-800-Got- Junk? and SERVPRO, among others, said in October it had more than tripled the size of its delivery fleet with the purchase of 33 additional trucks. The new vehicles are meant to support expansion in Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, and Orlando as well as what EzFill calls “select” U.S. markets outside the state.

“Fleet owners and consumers are continuing to reduce their reliance on traditional gas stations and turning to the convenience, cost-effectiveness, peace of mind, and safety of mobile delivery to fuel their vehicles,” McConnell said at the time of its fleet expansion announcement.
