FOX Business Network’s (FBN) Charlie Gasparino is reporting that former Lehman Brothers president, Joe Gregory, is now a key person in the SEC investigation into the firm. Excerpts of Gasparino's report can be found below, courtesy of Fox Business Network.
From Charlie Gasparino: “Joe Gregory seems to be in the cross hairs as well. Interesting guy --he used to fly his helicopter to work. This is the problem that Joe Gregory faces, even worse than Dick Fuld. We are picking this up from the information that we’ve obtained based on what witnesses are telling the SEC. He was the day to day guy that ran that company. The day to day guy is the guy you focus on and that’s what they (the SEC) are doing now. In 2006 he made at least $124 million based on documents we reviewed that discuss some of his stock options and other stock payments. Just that alone, he may be the highest paid among the senior executives ever on Wall Street. That is more money than Lloyd Blankfein made in 2006.”
“The answers they are getting from the witnesses -- he seems to be much more in the cross hairs than Dick Fuld. Dick Fuld was much more removed from the day to day stuff than these other players. That is at least what we are picking up in terms of what the witnesses are saying and what we know the investigators are asking. We do have a call into Gregory’s lawyer and he had no comment.”
