Ford Motor Down 2% On Massive F-150 Recall (F)

The major thing that plagues automakers is recall, and Ford F is no exception to it, as the Dearborn, Michigan-based automaker is recalling 1.19 million F-150's on an airbag issue. Models built between 2004 and 2006 are subject to unexpected airbag deployment. The recall includes the F-150's, and 16,000 Lincoln Mark LT vehicles. Ford said it does not know of any injuries caused by the issue, but will fix this issue for customers at no cost. The recall notices will start going out next month. CNBC's Phil LeBeau said that there were 98 minor injuries caused by this. "We are pleased that Ford shares our commitment to safety and is taking action to protect consumers by expanding its safety recall," said NHTSA Administrator David Strickland in a statement. At last check, shares of Ford were off 32 cents to $14.66, a loss of 2.1% on 31 million shares so far.
