Walter Energy, Inc. WLT is up more than 3% today after the company announced it was buying Western Coal for $3.3 billion in cash. Generally acquiring companies go down when they make acquisitions, but WLT is up extremely strong today, signaling the market thinks this was a good purchase for Walter Energy. Walter Energy produces and exports metallurgical coal for the steel industry primarily in the United States. Deckers Outdoor Corp. DECK is more than 6% higher today, as the stock continues to run sharply after having announced a new line of Uggs for men that Tom Brady will be the spokesman for. Deckers makes footwear and accessories for outdoor activities and everyday casual lifestyle use.
