How Many Macintosh Computers Apple Sold Since 2006

Apple Inc. AAPL reported in its fiscal fourth-quarter report (ending September 24, 2016) that it sold 4.886 million Mac units in the quarter, up from 4.252 million units in the prior quarter but lower than the 5.709 million units it sold in the same quarter a year ago.

Apple will report its fiscal first quarter results on January 31, 2017, and investors will naturally be paying close attention to iPhone sales metrics and outlooks. This doesn't mean that the Mac computer line will be ignored, however, as it is still a vital component of Apple's ecosystem.

Here is a look at how many Mac units the company has sold each year dating back to 2006:

  • 2006: 5.303 million.
  • 2007: 7.051 million.
  • 2008: 9.715 million.
  • 2009: 10.396 million.
  • 2010: 13.662 million.
  • 2011: 16.735 million.

  • 2013: 16.341 million.
  • 2014: 18.906 million.
  • 2015: 20.587 million.
