Apple Dominates Tablet Market With 95% Of All Shipments

An article by the Wall Street Journal cites that Apple AAPL continues to dominate the tablet segment with about 95% of all tablet shipments this past quarter, according to a study by Strategy Analytics Inc. the company also added that tablet computer shipments rose 26% from the previous quarter. Google's Android operating system represented only 2% of the global tablet shipments that were made by generic device manufacturers. This number is expected to rise as Samsung's Galaxy tablet enters the market. Apple has faced few competition and headwinds as other PC companies such as Hewlett Packard HPQ and Dell DELL are set to release tablets as well. Smartphone competitor Research In Motion RIMM has also planned a tablet release in early 2011. Tablet sales are expected to continuously grow exponentially into 2011 according to Gartner Inc. AAPL is trading higher at $308.54
