eBooks Experience Surge in Sales

Sales of eBooks increased by more than 115% in January this year compared to the same time the year before, according to a report by the Association of American Publishers (AAP).

Released Thursday, the report said sales in January 2011 hit US$69.9 million, compared to US$32.4 million the year before.

“eBook sales have increased annually and significantly in all nine years of tracking the category,” the AAP said in a statement.

However, total book sales on all platforms suffered a slight dip of about 2%, with significant drops in the Adult Mass Market and Children's/Young Adult Paperback categories.
