Microsoft Suing Barnes & Noble, Others On Patent Infringement (MSFT, BKS)

Microsoft Corp. MSFT announced today that it was suing Barnes & Noble BKS, Foxconn International Holdings, and Inventec Corp. for patent infringement on the related to the bookseller's Android-based e-reader and tablet devices. Google GOOG is the provider of the Android software. "The Android platform infringes a number of Microsoft's patents, and companies manufacturing and shipping Android devices must respect our intellectual property rights," said Horacio Gutierrez, Microsoft's deputy general counsel for intellectual property & licensing. Shares of MSFT are up 39 cents to $25.19, a gain of 1.6%, while shares of BKS were up 38 cents to $9.27, a gain of 4.4%.
