SunTrust Names Bill Peele President and CEO of Mecklenburg/South Carolina Region

SunTrust Banks, Inc. STI has named William H. Peele President and Chief Executive Officer of SunTrust Bank, Mecklenburg/South Carolina Region. He succeeds Carl E. Wicker, Jr. who will retire as previously announced on March 31, 2011. Mr. Peele will report to Gary Peacock, SunTrust Banks, Inc., Central Division President and Chief Executive Officer, and be based in Charlotte. "Bill brings more than 20 years of retail and commercial line of business experience -- and a reputation for effective leadership inside and outside of the bank -- to his new role," said Mr. Peacock. "There is significant opportunity to continue growing SunTrust's market share in the Mecklenburg/South Carolina region and Bill has a track record of doing just that." He continued, "We appreciate Carl's service to the company and his commitment to our clients. We wish him well in retirement."
