Credit Suisse Group CS Chairman Hans-Ulrich Doerig
said today that he's going to step up the argument for banker pay through a variety of means, prior to the company's shareholder meeting, which is scheduled for April 29.
"We are aware that pay remains a controversial topic, and we take concerns
seriously and include them wherever possible," Doerig said in a taped message on the company's website.
"Encouraging shareholders, particularly retail shareholders of which we have
many, to participate in the annual general meeting has been a concern for
our chairman for many years. This is part of our efforts for best corporate
governance," a Credit Suisse spokesman said.
Shares of Credit Suisse are up 55 cents in pre-market trading to $43.06, a gain of 1.3%.
