Chemtura Corporation First to Sign License Agreement with The Dow Chemical Company for Polymeric Flame Retardant Technology

Great Lakes Solutions, a Chemtura business CHMT, has worked closely with The Dow Chemical Company DOW to develop a commercial manufacturing process for Dow's proprietary and innovative brominated polymeric flame retardant technology for expanded polystyrene foam and extruded polystyrene foam insulation. As the first licensee of this technology, Chemtura Corporation, through its Great Lakes Solutions business, will have the rights to manufacture and sell this novel flame retardant for use in EPS and XPS foams. Although it is expected to take several years for the industry to fully convert to this technology, Great Lakes Solutions is moving forward now, making a significant capital investment into a full-scale manufacturing facility to support this conversion.
