United States Steel Up On Arcelor Mittal Chatter (X, MT)

United States Steel Corporation X shares are up nearly 1% this morning, on takeover chatter from Arcelor Mittal MT. This rumor has been bandied about for years, and nothing has ever come of it, but, given the fact that corporate balance sheets are in much better shape than they have been in recent years, it would not be surprising to see Mittal make a bid for U.S. Steel at around $60 per share, if the synergies could be had. At last check, shares of US Steel were up 44 cents to $51.06, a gain of 0.87%.
