The Public Service Commission of West Virginia approved new rates yesterday for West Virginia American Water customers, reaching a decision on a rate increase request the company filed in June 2010. The new rates, which were granted at a 4.445 percent increase, took effect today. The decision grants West Virginia American Water an overall increase of $5.1 million in annual revenue – less than one third of the company's requested $15.6 million.
