Forward Air Corporation Reports First Quarter 2011 Results - EPS of $0.27

Forward Air Corporation FWRD today reported revenue, operating income, net income and diluted earnings per share for the three months ended March 31, 2011. Operating revenue for the quarter ended March 31, 2011 increased 12.3% to $120.2 million from $107.0 million for the same quarter in 2010. Income from operations was $13.3 million, compared with $6.1 million in the prior-year quarter. As a percent of operating revenue, income from operations increased to 11.1% from 5.7% for the same quarter last year. Net income during the period increased to $7.9 million from $3.4 million in the prior-year quarter. Income per diluted share for the first quarter of 2011 was $0.27 compared with $0.12 in the prior-year quarter.
