Toyota Will Inevitably Shut Down North America Plants (TM)

Due to the events in Japan in last month, Toyota Motors TM said it will inevitably have to shut down its North American factories, as parts shortages in Japan wreak havoc. Spokesman Mike Goss said the company would likely shut down the plants later this month, and would affect as many as 25,000 workers. He said the company was not planning on laying off any employees. Goss did not say how long the shutdown would last. At last check, shares of Toyota were off 94 cents to $79.57, a loss of 1.2%.
